Taxonomy is Only Part of the Puzzle, People are the Full Picture

Simon Goh has been posting recently on his lessons learned during an intranet revamp project. He has some very useful reminders about where the focus needs to be: on the people who’ll be using he new platform, and the things that motivate them and demotivate them to participate (and use the taxonomy). He also has some nice suggestions for practical strategies to use taxonomies and metadata smartly, while leveraging the self-interests of the users. Disclosure: we have worked with Simon’s organisation on their taxonomy and metadata initiative.
